The Porsche 956 is a Group C sports-prototype racing car designed by Norbert Singer and built by Porsche in 1982. It replaced the 936. Its project began in June 1981. Its first prototype chassis was completed on March 27, 1982.
How it works, in terms someone would actually use
It is a Group C sports-prototype racing car built to meet the FIA’s 1982 Group C regulations. It uses a 2.65 L turbocharged Flat-6 engine derived from the 936/81. Its aluminium monocoque chassis is the first Porsche has ever made. Its bodywork generates ground-effect aerodynamics — also a first for Porsche.
