The Porsche Carrera GT is a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car developed from Porsche’s 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing programmes. It began as a 5.5 L V10 concept shown at the 2000 Paris Motor Show. Revenue from the Cayenne enabled Porsche to produce a road-legal version in Leipzig from 2004 to 2006.
How it works, in terms someone would actually use
It uses a 5.7 L naturally aspirated V10 engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and a carbon-fibre monocoque. It is mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive. The driver shifts gears manually and feels direct mechanical feedback through the wheel.
