The LM002 is Lamborghini’s first production off-road vehicle. It emerged from two failed rear-engined military prototypes — the 1977 Cheetah and the LM001 — both rejected for poor handling. How it works, in terms someone would actually use
It places a Countach-derived V12 in the front, driving all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The chassis is a new ladder frame built for off-road articulation, with solid axles front and rear. The driver feels heavy steering, high ride height, and coarse suspension travel — tuned for desert dunes and rocky trails, not tarmac compliance.
