Lotus Evija
The Lotus Evija is a limited-production, all-electric, all-wheel-drive sports car — Lotus Cars’ first EV — unveiled in July 2019. It is built by the British automaker Lotus Cars, owned by the Chinese company Geely. Production is capped at 130 units. Its base price is US$2.3 million, before options and taxes. Four wheel-mounted motors deliver 1,500 kW total power. A 93 kWh battery supplies energy. It achieves 0–100 km/h in under 3 seconds and a top speed of 349 km/h. A prototype underwent high-speed testing in November 2019. A video was released on 21 November 2019 ahead of its debut later that day at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Lotus planned thousands of miles of further road testing on European circuits and at its Hethel track. The name Evija derives from 'Eve' and means 'alive' or 'living' in Biblical Hebrew.
