AMC AMX

The AMC AMX is a two-seat GT-style muscle car produced by American Motors Corporation from 1968 through 1970. It was one of only two American-built two-seaters and competed directly with the Chevrolet Corvette at a significantly lower price. Based on the Javelin but with a shorter wheelbase and no rear seat, it was styled as a coupe with fixed rear quarter windows. It featured AMC V8 engines in 290, 343, or 390 cubic inch displacements. After three model years, the two-seat version was discontinued, though the AMX name continued on high-performance Javelin models. Its name originated from the 'American Motors experimental' designation used on 1966 concept vehicles.
